Cross on Zlatište may bring someone a few more votes in the elections, but nothing good to the peoples

The Public Relations Office of Dr. Mustafa Cerić, candidate for the Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency, also reacted to the news that a cross was erected on Zlatište. Patria publishes it in full: 

- Last night, a cross was erected on Zlatište above Sarajevo, which shocked the citizens of Sarajevo. The cross in Christian tradition has a history dating back to the time when innocent people were crucified on the cross during the Roman era and when it was a symbol of slavery, shame and crime. The Prophet Isa, or Jesus, through his suffering and readiness to forgive and his love for man, turned the cross into a symbol of love, faith, tolerance and coexistence - stated Dr. Cerić, adding: 

- Crosses are not unknown to Bosnia. They have never bothered her. On the contrary, the cross reminded good Bosniaks of love, faith, tolerance and coexistence, but the cross that appeared this morning on the hills of Sarajevo reminds more of that cross of shelling, spreading fear and hatred, killing innocent Sarajevo children, and not of the cross of love, faith, tolerance and coexistence! - he said.

The people of Sarajevo, regardless of religion and nationality, who together with their city survived the three-year siege, fearing shells from Zlatište, have been disturbed since this morning and with pain in their souls, because they did not believe that anyone could think of reminding them of those terrible days.

- That is why the cross on Zlatište is a cross of spite and provocation, and not a cross of freedom and honor for the Serbian, Orthodox people - Dr. Cerić believes.

Despite everything, Dr. Cerić appeals to the citizens of the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina to remain restrained, without harsh words and comments, dignified as they were during the war, but also to express what is in their souls so that those who placed the cross on Zlatište know that such an irresponsible and insensitive act causes mental pain to the people of Sarajevo, and to send a message to those who think that they can build their happiness, glory and freedom on the pain of others.

- Those who placed the cross on the hill above Sarajevo are certainly not at the height of human honor and morality", emphasized Dr. Cerić, and added that, as the poet said that Bosnia is "defiant", that defiance should be used to build a better future for all, through coexistence and tolerance, and not to defy each other and hinder the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina in its progress, for the sake of their own petty interests.

- Maybe they can bring someone a few more votes in the upcoming elections, but spite and provocation will not bring anything good to our country and its peoples - Dr. Cerić pointed out.
