More than 700 Bosniaks passed through the "Krings" camp in Sanski Most

Every year on this day, we gather to pay tribute to those who perished in the "Krings" camp and to remember the day when the mass deportation of the residents of Majdan to camps began, said Nihad Ključanin, president of the Association of Camp Detainees of Sanski Most, for the Patria agency.

- When it comes to the Sana River valley, there are too many dates of suffering that we mark. Three people perished in the "Krings" camp, and others were transferred to other camps, mostly to "Manjača" – said Ključanin, who was in three camps: OŠ "Hasan Kikić", "Betonirka", and the prison premises of the Sanski Most Police Station.

In the premises of the former company "Krings", camp detainees and family members evoked memories of the darkest moments of their lives. The "Krings" camp is one of 22 camps in the Sanski Most Municipality area to which entire families were taken, and it existed from May 30 to August 27, 1992.

- Camp detainees were transferred in freight wagons to camps in Prijedor for the ethnic cleansing of Bosniaks – Ključanin stated for NAP.

During the ethnic cleansing of Bosniaks and Croats in Sanski Most, members of the Seventh Krajiška Brigade forcibly brought men from surrounding villages to this camp. About 700 citizens of Sanski Most passed through this camp, including men, women, children, and the elderly. A memorial was erected about ten years ago.

- In the summer of 1992, Sanski Most residents were killed and thrown into mass graves, caves, wells, or hidden in mass graves. 509 residents welcomed the liberation of Sanski Most, and on that day, October 10, 1995, ten camp detainees were killed in the immediate vicinity of the "Sanakeram" camp – says Ključanin.

Ključanin noted that an indictment has been filed against two responsible and key individuals for the crimes in Sanski Most.

- These are Branko Basara, commander of the Sixth Krajiška, and Milenko Antić, commander of the TO staff. Both are in Serbia, one is 75 and the other is 87 years old. It is good that it is shown that no one will escape the hand of justice. We now expect the Prosecutor's Office to bring them to justice. Under the leadership of the military-political forces of the VRS, 771 persons of non-Serb nationality were killed. Sanski Most is included in the indictments against both Karadžić and Mladić – said Ključanin.
