Potatoes from BiH under special supervision, no harmful organisms

In the analyzed samples from production, import, and distribution of seed and ware potatoes in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2016, the presence of tested quarantine harmful organisms was not determined, according to the Report adopted today by the Council of Ministers of BiH, which will be submitted to the European Commission, reports Patria agency.

The report was prepared as part of a special supervision program (systematic control) of quarantine harmful organisms on potatoes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, carried out by the BiH Phytosanitary Directorate in cooperation with the competent entity ministries of agriculture and the Brčko District of BiH.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the few countries outside the European Union that has been able to trade ware potatoes with the EU since mid-2015, after being recognized as a country free from potato ring rot. In order to prove that BiH is free from Clavibacter michiganensis ssp. sepedonicus, special supervision has been carried out for several years and will continue.
