Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton on the implementation of protection measures against Coronavirus

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton continuously monitors the current epidemiological situation in the Canton, and implements measures of epidemiological surveillance, information and recommendations regarding the occurrence of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19). In accordance with the order of the relevant federal ministry, the organization and coordination of the work of cantonal health institutions is carried out, and recommendations are given according to the development of the current situation.

“The implementation of the preparedness plan in the previous period related to the implementation of measures to place persons under health surveillance. In the period from 01.02-13.02.2020, decisions were issued for nine persons to be placed under health surveillance, 195 individual sanitary questionnaires were processed, and 20 sanitary questionnaires for a group of persons who stayed or are still staying in the Sarajevo Canton area, thereby implementing the prescribed epidemiological surveillance. This established an adequate mechanism for collecting and analyzing data generated during screening for rapid assessment and response,” the Crisis Staff Report stated.

According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, the probability of infection for the EU/EEA population is still considered low. Although cases of imported and locally acquired cases have been reported from seven EU countries, the total number of cases reported in that area remains low, and protective measures are in place.

The Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton will continue to act according to the preparedness plan, with the aim of protecting the health of the residents of Sarajevo Canton.
