SDP BiH Criticizes Messages in Livno: Dragan Čović and HDZ are Undermining the Security System in FBiH

The Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina believes that HDZ BiH has openly started undermining the security system in FBiH, as part of preparations for the creation of a third entity, which they intend to declare after losing the elections next year, the party announced, reports Patria News Agency.

- The messages from Dragan Čović, stated on Friday in Livno, that five cantonal police forces in FBiH protect Croats, are not only a continuation of the chauvinistic statements by the HDZ leader but also an open threat to the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This action by HDZ must be stopped. SDP BiH demands that the prosecution urgently sanction such actions and open threats to the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

All police forces in BiH are at the service of protecting all citizens. Any attempt to turn them into armed ethnic phalanxes serving one ethnic group and one party will fail. We call on SDA to finally abandon the concept of privatizing the police, as such actions feed and encourage Čović's policy of division and exclusivity. Only a professional and depoliticized police force is a guarantee that Čović and HDZ, nor anyone else, will succeed in implementing their plans to divide the country.

It is time for SDA to finally understand where this situation is leading us, and to join SDP BiH and DF in enabling depoliticization and establishing civilian oversight over the work of FUP, as well as other police bodies, in accordance with the laws of this country. In this way, they would show that they do not want to be accomplices in undermining the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is high time for SDA to choose the interests of BiH instead of the interests of HDZ and the protection of crime - stated SDP BiH.
