(Patria) - Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH Borjana Krišto spoke today in Sarajevo with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán about improving bilateral cooperation and BiH's European path.
During the meeting, it was stated that the bilateral cooperation between friendly countries is good and that there is significant room and need for increasing trade exchange. The work of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary was welcomed.
Krišto thanked Orbán and Hungarian diplomacy for their strong and unreserved support for our country's European path.
She added that the decision of the European Council also represents a confirmation of the common friendship between Hungary and BiH, as well as the efforts and commitment that led to achieving the necessary level of alignment with the criteria for EU membership.
She also said that by opening accession negotiations, BiH has opened a new chapter of its European future, but that there is still work to be done that will require intensive effort. Krišto added that the imposed intervention by the High Representative in BiH significantly hinders the further process of alignment with European standards.
- It is very important that all solutions, not only regarding electoral legislation, as a particularly important issue for BiH, but also all others, must be the result of internal dialogue and agreement, meaning these issues must be resolved within our institutions, respecting democratic principles and the rule of law - Krišto emphasized.
She stressed that BiH institutions have shown in the past year of work that they are capable of adopting laws and regulations themselves, "which is clearly shown by the statistics of the work of the Council of Ministers of BiH".
Krišto pointed out that "what has been done with the imposition of the Election Law is the most detrimental precisely for Bosnia and Herzegovina".
- Nevertheless, even in such challenging times, we must remain focused on our set path, and our commitment to European values must not be shaken by such or similar interventions - Krišto added.
She also emphasized the need to maintain focus on reforms and progress towards the EU, while simultaneously strengthening institutions and democratic processes, all in order to ensure lasting stability and prosperity for BiH.
At the end of the meeting, it was highlighted that good economic cooperation between BiH and Hungary should continue, especially in the field of entrepreneurship.
