Krišto on Vukanović's non-appointment: Let someone tell me where I violated the Law

(Patria) - BiH Council of Ministers Chairperson Borjana Krišto (HDZ) commented today on the non-appointment of Nebojša Vukanović as BiH Minister of Security.

Krišto stated that the procedures are clear but that legal procedures are closely linked to political ones.

- One comes to the position of minister, as well as myself as chairperson, upon the proposal of political parties in accordance with the political agreement made within the coalition.

Today, we only have the agreement signed during the formation of the Council of Ministers, and I, as chairperson, have clearly defined within it which position belongs to which political option and which nation - Krišto said.

She assures that she is not violating the Law on the Council of Ministers of BiH.

- Let someone tell me where I violated the Law. After the resignation of the Minister of Security, which I accepted in accordance with the law, I immediately forwarded it to the political partner to whom this position belongs according to the coalition agreement, which I still have today and which is unchanged.

I addressed the SNSD for the position of minister, and a minister was proposed. It was sent for the appointment procedure, i.e., checks at SIPA and CIK.

When that was obtained, I made the appointment decision and sent it to the House of Representatives. The minister eventually withdrew before the session of the House of Representatives. Nowhere am I bound by other deadlines, nor are laws violated in any part - Krišto points out.

She adds that every position comes through the proposal of political parties and no other initiative.

- How can you appoint the chairperson of the Council of Ministers, and then they propose? Can you say that this is my composition of the Council of Ministers? It must be known precisely.

Representatives of the Serb people elect and propose their representatives, just like Croats - Krišto said, adding that this is not a parliamentary majority and that Vukanović does not have support.

- What do you think, would someone else, from another nation, submit to me? Bosniaks, Serbs submit their proposals there. I don't know what kind of proposal it is. It cannot be like that.

Every person who has come to the Council of Ministers must have their political option, their coalition standing behind them. This was submitted to me as the HDZ chairperson of the Council of Ministers.

Am I part of that coalition? Should I now appoint that person? I will tell you this - just as a majority in the House of Representatives is needed for the confirmation of appointments, it is also needed in making the appointment decision - Krišto stated.
