Rewarding and punishing of 270,000 civil servants begins

The Croatian government must adopt a series of laws before the elections, including the introduction of a system of rewarding and punishing for 270,000 employees in state and public services, Nova TV reminds, as reported by the Patria news agency.

"The intention of the law is not to reduce salaries, but we want a very clear and transparent system," said Minister Mirando Mrsić recently, in whose department the law is being prepared under the motto "equal pay for equal work."

According to the proposal, employees should be classified into ten salary grades, with ten salary steps.

Possible additional grades would be introduced for the military and police. The Civil Servants' Union announced that 35 state bodies and institutions have received a document according to which they should conduct simulations. Exceptional work will be rewarded, and idleness punished.
