Investigation into Palić's unlawful suspension to begin?

The non-final verdict obtained by Rašid Palić, the dismissed head of the Regional Office of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) in Sarajevo, at the Court of BiH has surprised director Goran Zubac, who directly ordered Palić's suspension, NAP has learned. Unofficially, SIPA did not expect the case to have such a swift judicial epilogue.

According to the non-final verdict, Palić must be reinstated to SIPA within 15 days. In addition to returning to the position from which he was suspended in May 2012, Rašid Palić is also entitled to financial compensation for salaries amounting to 33,000 KM.

However, this case is already in the hands of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, to which all documents proving that the proceedings against Palić were manipulated have been submitted. Attorney Sanel Nezirić, representing Rašid Palić for NAP, says that the report has been filed and hopes that an investigation into the unlawful suspension will now be activated.

- We have duly submitted the documentation to the BiH Prosecutor's Office. And now it is clear that we were right from the beginning. We still stand by the claims that by removing Palić from SIPA, the edge of this institution was dulled, which is a blow to the Prosecutor's Office and the Court of BiH. Now we are waiting to see what the Prosecutor's Office will do - Nezirić said.

We remind you that the defense of Palić claimed all along that all suspension orders were made unlawfully, which the Court of BiH confirmed by revoking all orders.

This case was also discussed in the BiH Parliament, where Salko Sokolović, an SDA MP in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament, asked the BiH Minister of Security Fahrudin Radončić what steps would be taken to inform the public about the real reasons for the proceedings against Palić, which resulted in his dismissal from service.

Radončić then replied that "according to the information they received from SIPA, the proceedings against Palić were also reviewed by the Committee for Appeals of Police Officers, which is very important, as all legal procedures were followed. The Committee determined that Palić had indeed committed disciplinary violations related to some sensitive matters.".

Radončić also stated at the time that "they must be legalists, and if Sokolović's information is correct, then this case goes to the BiH Prosecutor's Office, so it is best for it to be concluded there in terms of establishing the facts as to whether someone abused their position or not towards Mr. Palić.".
