Holocaust Remembrance Day was also marked in Zenica. Members of the Interreligious Cooperation Committee (MRV), together with members of the Jewish Community in Zenica, held a commemoration at the old Jewish cemetery in Raspotočje and laid flowers, reports the Patria agency.

- On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we must think about ensuring that war, the Holocaust and genocide never happen again. Unfortunately, we are witnessing that wars still exist around the world today, and there are still people who advocate hatred towards others and are ready to commit the most terrible acts. Therefore, we call on all people to side with good, peace and love - stated the Jewish Community in Zenica.

About 13 percent of the population in Sarajevo were Jews, but today that number has dropped to only 700 members.

- Few people in Bosnia and Herzegovina know the consequences of the genocide against the Jewish people and that today less than ten percent of Jews remain in BiH. One language, Ladino, which was spoken and could be heard on the streets of Bosnian cities, has disappeared - said for Patria the expert associate of the MRV BiH and member of the Jewish Community of BiH, Igor Kožemjakin.

During the Holocaust, 12,000 Jews perished in Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports Patria.
