Kovačević claims: BiH has not activated MAP, SDS and PDP are misleading the public

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - SDS and PDP continue to mislead the public with completely false and unverified information, and that is, apparently, all they know, and the only truth is that Bosnia and Herzegovina has not activated the Membership Action Plan for NATO, has not adopted the annual national plan for NATO membership, and has interrupted the path to NATO given that it adopted the Reform Program, stated SNSD spokesperson Radovan Kovačević, as reported by media in the RS.

"The Reform Program is a document on cooperation with NATO in which, for the first time, it does not state that BiH aspires to become a NATO member, but rather that NATO membership is no longer prejudiced, meaning it is no longer considered and is not on the agenda," emphasized Kovačević in a statement to Srna.

According to him, the fact is that NATO updated the page on BiH because it had to do so due to the new circumstances, i.e., due to the adoption of the BiH Reform Program.

"But it is also a fact that on that page it clearly states that NATO membership is not prejudiced. Therefore, in accordance with the BiH Reform Program, any eventual decision on NATO membership will be made by the Presidency and the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, where the Republika Srpska has its representatives who have the right of veto and entity voting, and they will make their decisions based on the decisions of the institutions and citizens of the RS," Kovačević pointed out.

The Republika Srpska, he stated, certainly has the right to a referendum that will be a binding opinion for the representatives of the RS in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"All that the people from SDS and PDP have been doing lately is misleading citizens and trying to create unrest among them, and behind them, as results, stands solely and exclusively the fact that they simultaneously took two salaries, ministerial and parliamentary, and that they participated in the recall of the Serbian mayor of Drvar, Dušica Runić, who was elected by the Serbian people in Drvar. Those are their only results and 'successes,' of course to the detriment of the Republika Srpska, the Serbian people, and the citizens of the RS," Kovačević concluded.
