Kovačević: As long as we do not depoliticise key institutions in the country, Bosnia and Herzegovina will not be a safe country

The security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, undermined by increasingly frequent problems in this area, necessitates the active involvement of civil society in improving the security situation in the country, believes Assoc. Prof. Goran Kovačević, PhD, assistant professor at the Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies in Sarajevo and president of the Association „Friends of BH“, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

At a time when media reports are full of evidence of the inefficiency of security system institutions, of evident political abuses of institutions that should protect the interests of citizens and the state in a professional, law-based manner, of serious forms of crime, terrorism, nepotism..., the Association „Friends of BH“ points out that it is high time to take decisive actions to protect the state and society.

Kovačević warns that all institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina function on a political matrix, which has brought BiH into a difficult situation. He emphasises that it is necessary, through joint actions of the civil sector and representatives of the international community, to depoliticise key institutions in BiH, with the aim of their professionalisation and involvement in solving problems in the country, reports NAP.
