Kovačević: Salihović should have listened to Kreso when she said there is a judicial mafia in BiH

Goran Kovačević, assistant professor at the Faculty of Criminal Justice, Criminology and Security Studies at the University of Sarajevo, analyzing the current situation in BiH judiciary and ongoing processes during his guest appearance on the show Dan uživo on N1.

He stated that it is not excluded that after two chief prosecutors of the BiH Prosecutor's Office who were dismissed, the same case might happen with the suspended Goran Salihović. However, on the other hand, Kovačević believes that the public should know what the evidence is and what he is accused of.

- I would not want the only information available to the public to be the statement of the HJPC president Milan Tegeltija claiming that this is the case. There should be no evidence kept under any secrecy. We want to know what he is accused of – said Kovačević.

Kovačević believes that Salihović was disciplinarily responsible the moment he failed to listen to the president of the BiH Court, who stated that there is a judicial mafia in BiH and that the organization she leads is a key factor in this mafia.

When asked if he thinks that the president of the BiH Court, Meddžida Kreso, has an influence on the decision regarding the suspension and the case of Salihović, the guest of Dan uživo said that it is not excluded and that the BiH judiciary has been under the influence of politics and political parties for years.

- If there is no transparency in these proceedings, then this is one of the political processes.

Kovačević also mentioned the case of Fahrudin Radončić, the president of SBB.

- Processes against such high-ranking officials in the judicial, executive, and legislative branches must be open.

Kovačević also recalled the case of Kemal Čaušević, who mentioned names in his testimony who are currently high-ranking in politics, and that case was shelved.

- The public must know such information, how that investigation is progressing. Amounts of several billion marks are mentioned. It is not enough for the BiH Prosecutor's Office to say it is being worked on – says Kovačević.
