Kovačević: Proceedings against high-ranking officials must not be kept secret from the public

Goran Kovačević, assistant professor at the Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies in Sarajevo, said as a guest on BHT1's morning program that there is a long list of those who threaten Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that we do not need foreigners to tell us that, Patria reports.

On the other hand, he finds it interesting that the key proceedings currently underway in Bosnia and Herzegovina against Goran Salihović, the suspended chief prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, are not receiving media attention.

- Salihović was at the helm of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is the only body capable of bringing order to people engaged in politics and political crime in Bosnia and Herzegovina and prosecuting them before the law, that is, before the public. We now have two proceedings against this man, one disciplinary and one criminal, with both proceedings being essentially the same. In this case, secrecy of these proceedings is being sought, but proceedings against holders of such high offices must not be kept secret from the public – said Kovačević.

Speaking about terrorism and its forms, Kovačević said that three cases have occurred in Bosnia and Herzegovina, while in EU countries there have been seven or eight, with many more victims and of a much more dangerous scope and intensity.

- Those that happened in Bosnia and Herzegovina are still unresolved, and investigations are being conducted as if they were terrorism, but since the perpetrators died, we generally do not know. Bosnia and Herzegovina is not an area of higher risk for terrorism than the EU and other Western countries. For Bosnia and Herzegovina, many things are problematic and tied to stories we created about ourselves, such as the white Al Qaeda, training camps, and para-jamaats. Regardless of how it looks, the media image of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been created as if it is a terrorist base, but we must only speak the truth, and it will show that we are a very stable country.
