Kovačević: Furniture aid will not be able to pass through fast-track procedure

Trucks with humanitarian aid continue to cross the BiH border, albeit with somewhat reduced intensity compared to the first days after the floods, confirmed for the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP) Ratko Kovačević, spokesperson for the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH (UIO BiH).

According to his words, by the end of yesterday, a total of 923 trucks with 6,807 tons of humanitarian aid had entered BiH.

- The intensity is now somewhat lower, but still every day between 10 and 20 shipments cross the border, which go through the simplified customs procedure for humanitarian shipments – says Kovačević.

He adds that shipments with construction material or furniture are not covered by the decision on exemption from customs duties. Kovačević also has no information about the arrival of a furniture convoy from Turkey. Media reported that the convoy set off towards BiH several days ago.

- I have no information that such a convoy has arrived at the BiH border, but it is clear that furniture is not exempt from the customs clearance process. Exempted are food, clothing, medicines, bedding and other emergency aid – says Kovačević.
