Coronavirus enters Nahorevo Home, director confirms several residents with symptoms

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Home for Social and Health Care of Persons with Disabilities and Other Persons in Sarajevo (Nahorevo) currently has a large number of residents with symptoms of the Covid-19 virus (elevated temperature), confirmed for Patria by the director of this cantonal institution, Hazim Durmišević.

„All these persons are in isolation, for now the virus has been confirmed in two residents. We have informed the Health Center of the Sarajevo Canton and our family doctor about everything,“ Durmišević pointed out.

When asked how it is possible that the virus 'crept' into this institution if they adhered to all measures, Durmišević says:

„We followed everything properly, visits are also banned, but omicron is obviously spreading quickly. The situation is under control even though it looks problematic. Testing of the persons we have isolated is underway,“ said Durmišević, noting that visits have been banned for the last 15 days.

We remind that as of December 31, the Federal Crisis Staff allowed visits and outings for persons accommodated in social protection institutions that care for and accommodate elderly persons, provided that the institution must have an internal plan for visits, as well as a crisis plan in case of the occurrence of the infectious disease COVID-19.

„Other social protection institutions, including social protection institutions that care for and accommodate persons with developmental disabilities and persons with mental disorders, as well as correctional institutions, must have an internal plan for visits and outings from the institution, as well as a crisis plan in case of the occurrence of the infectious disease COVID-19, and have an obligation to act accordingly. 

The admission of new residents in social protection institutions is allowed, provided that PCR testing for COVID-19 has been previously conducted. The aforementioned also applies when transferring residents from a health institution to a social protection institution. It is the obligation of the social protection institution to provide space for the isolation of residents,“ it is stated in the recommendations and orders.
