Coronavirus reaches Great Britain

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The first cases of the new coronavirus have been confirmed in Great Britain. These are two people from the same family in England, Reuters reported.

Head of the English medical service, Chris Whitty, stated that the patients are under specialist supervision and that all control measures are being applied to prevent further spread of the virus.

According to the latest information, 213 people have died from the consequences of the coronavirus in China, while 9,692 have been infected.

The World Health Organization yesterday declared a global health emergency due to the coronavirus, after the number of infected people increased more than tenfold in one week.

The WHO announced that the global emergency situation represents an "extraordinary event", which means it poses a risk to other countries and requires a coordinated international response.

Experts state that cases of virus transmission from person to person in countries outside of China are particularly concerning, as they indicate a greater possibility of further spread of the virus.

The declaration of a global emergency situation triggers recommendations for all countries. It is aimed at preventing or reducing the cross-border spread of the virus, while avoiding unnecessary interference with trade and travel.
