Coronavirus claims over a million lives in 202 days

(Patria) – 202 days have passed since the World Health Organization declared the Covid-19 pandemic.

The deadly virus has claimed over a million lives worldwide with at least 33,311,425 confirmed infections.

The European continent has long been considered the epicenter of the pandemic, and is currently facing a second wave and new outbreaks.

WHO Europe Director, Dr. Hans Kluge, claims that the situation will worsen in October and November, with an increase in fatalities.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the highest number of fatalities worldwide has been recorded in the USA, with 209,453. This is followed by Brazil with 141,776 and India, where 95,574 have died.

In Europe, the hardest-hit countries are Great Britain, Italy, France, and Spain.

However, in terms of fatalities per 100,000 inhabitants, Belgium, Andorra, and Spain are at the top of the European rankings, Euronews reports.
