CORONA New instruction: Prayers to be performed in full

Imams in mosques in Bosnia and Herzegovina are obliged from September 16 to perform prescribed prayers in full, meaning to perform sunnah prayers along with fard prayers, including the prayer dua, unless the competent religious authority, the chief imam with the consent of the mufti, determines otherwise.

The Instruction issued by the Administration for Religious Affairs of the Islamic Community (IZ) in Bosnia and Herzegovina also reminds of the obligation to respect the orders and recommendations of competent state bodies and previous instructions of the Islamic Community.

It is also added that khateebs will deliver sermons as foreseen by the Guidelines for Khateebs from 2016.

Congregation members are still obliged to respect physical distancing measures and the use of masks during rituals, and to use disinfectant when entering and leaving the mosque.

Previous measures include, among other things, regular cleaning, disinfection, and ventilation of facilities (mosques, masjids, tekkes) where prayers are performed and other religious activities take place.
