Cormack: BiH is a crossroads of cultures and I look forward to meeting them

US Ambassador Maureen Cormack, after taking the oath, will soon arrive in BiH to assume the duties of ambassador, following the departure of former ambassador Patrick Moon in August 2013, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

Cormack sent a message to all citizens of BiH that the US has long been a loyal friend and ally of BiH.

- I look forward to working with you and our European partners to return your country to the right path of joining the EU and NATO alliance.

And the US remains determined to be your strongest partner on that journey. Whenever my husband and I visit the Lincoln Memorial, I remember why it is my favorite monument in Washington.

President Lincoln led my country through its most difficult times and established a united America where the rights of its citizens are respected and protected. As an American diplomat in Poland and South Korea, I have personally encountered the challenges that transitional countries must face and have communicated directly with the citizens of the countries where I worked to hear their opinions.

My goal will be to support your efforts to build a united, democratic, and prosperous future.

BiH is a crossroads of cultures and I look forward to meeting them all. My family has been enriched by the opinions of different cultures from Ireland, England, Scotland, and Germany. My husband Bill and I will soon come to Sarajevo, and our three children can hardly wait to visit us – said Cormack in her address.
