Korićani Cliffs: Instead of freedom in Travnik, criminals took over 200 Bosniaks to be executed

24 years ago at Korićani Cliffs, members of the Intervention Squad of the Public Security Station Prijedor executed at least 200 men, who were brought by buses from the Prijedor death camps, writes the Patria News Agency. 

Even today, family members, friends, and former camp inmates will gather at the crime scene to pay tribute to the innocent victims. Instead of an exchange and the freedom they were promised when they were taken by buses over Vlašić towards Travnik, they were taken to be executed. 

So far, 117 remains of victims have been exhumed at the Korićani Cliffs site, and five exhumations have been carried out. The remains of 98 more Bosniaks from Prijedor are still being searched for. 

So far, 12 people have been convicted for the crime at Korićani Cliffs by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Darko Mrđa was sentenced to 17 years in prison by the Hague Tribunal, and after serving two-thirds of his sentence, he was released.
