Kordić (HDZ) is the new Mayor of Mostar

MOSTAR, (Patria) - In the third round of elections for the Mayor of Mostar, Mario Kordić was elected mayor. 

He received 17 votes, while the candidate of the Coalition for Mostar, Zlatko Guzin, received 16 votes. 

Two votes were invalid. 

Zlatko Guzin, candidate for mayor of the Coalition for Mostar, said he congratulated Kordić from the heart. 

"This was a derby, and in a derby, someone has to lose. This time it was me. Congratulations, and you know it's from the heart," Guzin said.

Outgoing Mayor Ljubo Bešlić congratulated both Kordić and the city councilors on the election of the mayor. 

"I thank all the citizens and associates with whom I have worked all these years. We had numerous problems that we did not manage to solve, and they await you, the newly elected councilors. I am leaving the City of Mostar financially stable. I hope you will take advantage of all the benefits and eliminate the shortcomings. I wish you good health, patience, and success in all aspects of your work," Bešlić added. 

Kordić then signed a declaration that he is taking over the position of mayor and took the solemn oath. After that, he will resign from his position as councilor. 

Then Kordić addressed the audience and said he was emotional. 

"Zlatko, thank you for your kind words. There are no losers here, Mostar is the winner here. It is important to me that from today we work as one. You can expect me to be the engine of the city tomorrow. And somewhere where you see me going astray, contact me," he added.

He asked all councilors for help and patience so that, in the end, we can all together make a beautiful story out of Mostar.
