SARAJEVO, (Patria) - We from the Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies warned three years ago that a large migrant wave could occur, said the dean of the Faculty, Nedžad Korajlić, in the N1 Direct show.
“This is not a pre-crisis situation; we are already in a crisis situation. It would be a mistake to expect Greece to solve this alone. All countries from the Western Balkans to the EU must solve it. This involves millions of migrants, and it is expected that they will head towards Europe every day,” Korajlić believes.
He adds that the European Union should find a solution with Turkey.
“Turkey has dealt with this so far, but it is also a big task for them. Imagine, you get seven million pensioners overnight and you have to finance them. This is about families, social tragedies that you have to control. People have been away from their homes for years, and a way should be found to return them home,” Korajlić believes.
Migrants will find a way to pass through, and the pressure to stop this wave will also grow.
Commenting on what we can expect now, Korajlić says that the statement by the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Fahrudin Radončić, should be taken seriously.
“Everyone mentions personnel, but no one mentions the material and technical means with which a lot could be done. As a Faculty, we worked on certain points for setting up MTS, but we did not have full support from those we should have had. We will now be putting out fires, but this could have been anticipated a year ago,” Korajlić points out.
As he says, construction of reception camps should have started ‘yesterday’, because “without camps, migrants will move freely”.
He states that border control with the army is one of the options, because there is a danger that para-formations are passing through these impermeable borders.
“It is possible that Bosnia and Herzegovina becomes a hotspot if a million migrants arrive. It would be good for the EU to make an agreement with Turkey and not allow a large number of migrants through,” Korajlić emphasized in the N1 Direct show.
Asked whether the option is for the Armed Forces to go to the border, Korajlić says it is not yet time, but he believes that the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina have a plan for certain situations.
“They should have one; I cannot believe they don't. Of course, the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, will at some point, under pressure, have to agree to that, because that is how the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and other countries are protected,” believes the dean of the Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies, and notes that there is no serious cooperation among countries.
