Kopač in Neum calls RS a state, Mehmedović expresses disapproval!

NEUM, (Patria) - Director of the Energy Community Secretariat Janez Kopač at the Energy Summit held in Neum yesterday called the entity Republika Srpska a state in the region, to which some visitors reacted and it is very likely that a public apology from Kopač will be requested.

Šemsudin Mehmedović, a representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH told Patria that he expresses disapproval regarding yesterday's statement by Janez Kopač who stated that the only state in the region is Republika Srpska, which managed to do certain things in this area.

„I warn him that in this way he is aligning himself with lobbyists for secession, i.e., attempts to create an independent RS from BiH, which is certainly a serious political gaffe, and I express disapproval,” said Mehmedović.

Representative Mehmedović explained that Kopač called RS a state while „talking about the analysis and share of renewable energy sources in that energy balance of Elektroprivreda BiH.”

„He seems to be implementing Dodik's (Milorad Dodik, editor's note) political ideas, which are unacceptable for those of us living in BiH. It is unacceptable for him to lecture us and lead our energy community in a wrong direction. A state that is energy independent can also be politically independent. If he leads us towards energy dependence on our neighbors and other countries, then BiH, despite the potentials it has, could very quickly find itself in an unenviable situation. I believe that our Council of Ministers and entity governments must address Kopač's role in this whole story,” said Mehmedović.

Director of the Energy Community Secretariat Janez Kopač said at the panel in Neum that if BiH were to enter the EU now, all power utilities in the country that depend on coal would go bankrupt overnight, except HZHB, which depends on water!

„The most efficient thermal power plant Stanari would have a loss of 20 million euros per year. It would close its doors immediately. This is a gap that is widening and it will be increasingly difficult to jump on the EU train if BiH does not start thinking about it now,” said Kopač.
