Logistika BiH Consortium on Suspended Protests: European Union Showed More Understanding Than Domestic Authorities

(Patria) - Transporters, members of the Logistika BiH Consortium, today suspended protests at border crossings in BiH leading to the EU. The protests were suspended after representatives of the European Union gave written guarantees to transporters from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and North Macedonia that drivers from these countries will not be detained and deported from EU countries in the coming period, according to a statement from the Logistika BiH Consortium.

"This is a temporary measure that resolves the issue for which the protests in the mentioned countries of the region began on Monday, which is the application of the rule on drivers' stay in EU countries for a maximum of 90 days in six months. The Logistika BiH Consortium emphasizes that transporters from BiH found more understanding, support, and solutions to the problem in EU institutions than from the representatives of our country's authorities. We once again welcome the EC's decision to include the transporters' problems, in addition to the temporary measure, in the European Asylum and Migration Management Strategy, which was presented on Thursday, January 29, 2026, in Brussels.

Despite continuous calls, most representatives of domestic institutions have done nothing to resolve our problems. Unlike political representatives, during the five days of protests, we encountered understanding from members of the BiH Border Police, as well as local police agencies, to whom we express special thanks.

The protests, which, as is known, were held in four countries of the region, showed the solidarity, unity, and strength of transporters from the region, which resulted in guarantees from the European Union. Therefore, we thank all transporters who are members of the Logistika BiH Consortium for persevering in their demands. Given that there are still a number of problems facing transporters, we once again call on the authorities to engage in dialogue so that we are not forced to organize new protests.

We express special gratitude to the citizens who supported us during the protests and who showed immense understanding for our demands and our way of fighting," the statement said.
