The convertible mark was first issued on June 22, 1998, and in a few days it will celebrate its 20th birthday, reports the Patria agency.
The first series of KM banknotes in denominations of 50 feninga, 1 KM, 5 KM and 10 KM was issued on June 22, 1998, in denominations of 20 KM, 50 KM and 100 KM on July 27, 1998, while the banknote in the denomination of 200 KM was issued on May 15, 2002.
Banknotes of 50 feninga ceased to be legal tender on January 1, 2003. Banknotes of 1 KM ceased to be legal tender on January 1, 2009. Banknotes of 5 KM ceased to be legal tender on January 1, 2010.
KM banknotes in five different denominations are in circulation: 10 KM, 20 KM, 50 KM, 100 KM and 200 KM.
The first series of KM coins in denominations of 10 F, 20 F and 50 F was issued on December 9, 1998, in denominations of 1 KM and 2 KM on July 31, 2000, and in denominations of 5 F and 5 KM on January 5, 2006.
KM coins in seven different denominations are in circulation: 5 F, 10 F, 20 F, 50 F, 1 KM, 2 KM and 5 KM.
All denominations of coins are issued in one design version for the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina and represent legal tender in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
KM banknotes in denominations of 10 KM, 20 KM, 50 KM and 100 KM are issued in two design versions for each stated denomination for the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska, while the banknote in the denomination of 200 KM is printed in one design version for the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina. All KM banknotes in circulation represent legal tender in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina puts into and withdraws from circulation banknotes of the domestic currency, the convertible mark, strictly adhering to the rules of the currency board established by the Law on the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The official exchange rate for the currency of Bosnia and Herzegovina is one convertible mark for 0.511292 euros, i.e., one euro amounts to 1.955830 convertible marks.
