Horsemen from Karaula head towards Prusac: They live for this day

(Patria) - For more than 500 years, horsemen from Karaula have been heading towards Ajvatovica. It is a special feeling for the residents of this village near Travnik.

They prepare for it specially, both the horsemen and the horses. About a hundred of them set off this morning along the mountain road towards Donji Vakuf, where they will attend the ceremonial parade.

Benjamin Jusić and his son Hamza are once again with their fellow villagers. Hamza was the youngest horseman last year.

This year, says his father, he again carried that title.

"This is a special morning for us, this is what we live for in Karaula. We prepare for this specially," Benjamin told us.

Emir Pajić, one of the organizers, this morning, on behalf of the Karaula community, wished all the horsemen a safe journey to Donji Vakuf.

"Let's show who we are, let's show unity, and let our banner rise proudly," Pajić said.

Every year, his daughter Dženeta attracts attention at the send-off of the horsemen from Karaula.

"This is a special day for all of us, both in Karaula and in Bosnia and Herzegovina," added Dženeta.

The head of the religious affairs service at the Travnik Mufti's office, Muhamed-ef. Pezić, said that with today's events, we are approaching the end of the cultural-religious event "515th Days of Ajvatovica".

"In the 16 days that this event lasts, we have offered very rich content and thus shown that we are committed to preserving tradition," Pezić told us.

Before departing for Donji Vakuf, Muhamed-ef. Pezić recited a prayer and wished all the horsemen a safe journey.

Let us remind you, the ceremonial parade of horsemen is planned for today in Donji Vakuf at 5:30 PM. The roll call of horsemen and standard-bearers will be held the morning before the Central Program of Ajvatovica.
