Congress of People and Justice: Konaković remains party president

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The first Congress of People and Justice will be held today, where party bodies will be elected, including the party president, which will complete the internal party elections. According to information, the only candidate for president is the current president of NiP, Elmedin Konaković. This party was formed in March 2018, and Konaković has been at its head since the beginning.

The Congress of People and Justice was previously postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and gathering restrictions that were in place. Internal elections at lower levels, from municipal and cantonal to regional committees, have been ongoing since mid-2021.

In addition to the president, the Congress will elect two deputies, at least four vice-presidents of the party, the Main Board of People and Justice, which will consist of 99 members, and the Supervisory Board of the party. The Congress will be attended by 400 delegates from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina and all party organizations.

The Congress will also consider a set of strategic documents that will clearly define party policies, priorities, and the methods for achieving them in the coming period. Among other things, the Congress will consider the Proposal for the Declaration of People and Justice, as the official position of the party on key issues. The Declaration contains 31 chapters and, with the introductory part, this document defines the party as a centrist, state-building, multi-ethnic party with a Bosnian-Herzegovinian orientation. The Congress will also consider the Proposal for Programmatic Orientation as a broader document that covers the primary areas of programmatic activity of People and Justice. The document contains quite precise directions of action, which are numbered by areas and total 253. Furthermore, the Proposal for the Youth Programmatic Platform will also be considered.
