Conference: From the Stabilisation and Association Agreement to EU Membership: What, When and How?

On Monday, 26 October, at the amphitheatre of the UNITIC Business Centre in Sarajevo starting at 9:00 AM, a conference titled „From the Stabilisation and Association Agreement to EU Membership: Šta, kada i kako?“ will be held, reports the Patria news agency.   

The aim of the conference is to highlight the importance of strengthening public administration, especially those institutions and officials responsible for EU integration issues at all levels of government in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH).

The entry into force of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) in June this year, as well as the activation of reform measures at the FBiH level, represent an opportunity for a significant step forward in fulfilling obligations in the European integration process. For countries in the region, a significant part of the path from the SAA to the opening of negotiations involved constant strengthening of public administration capacities to ensure that obligations arising from the SAA are correctly and timely implemented in practice.

The conference aims to highlight the obligations that will face the FBiH administration, arising from the entry into force of the SAA, and, using experiences from the region, to indicate how the administration in FBiH can be more efficient.

The conference will be opened by the Prime Minister of FBiH, Fadil Novalić, the British Ambassador Edward Ferguson, and the Head of the EU Delegation/Special EU Representative Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, as announced by the Government of FBiH.
