PM10 concentrations in the air remain extremely high, reduce outdoor movement

SARAJEVO; (Patria) - Concentrations of PM10 dust particles in the air remain extremely high today, due to which the 'Alert' episode is still in effect in all zones of Sarajevo Canton.

Average measured PM10 values today at the automatic station Ilijaš were 644 µg/m3, at Ilidža – 492 µg/m3, at Otoka 447 µg/m3, and at Vijećnica 347 µg/m3. Although there has been a slight decrease in PM10 concentrations compared to yesterday's and last night's values, the air quality situation is still considered extremely unfavorable and harmful to the health of the entire population.

It is urged that movement in the 'alert zones' be reduced to a minimum, especially in the evening hours when a renewed increase in PM10 concentrations is expected. An extremely unfavorable situation for the health of citizens, from the aspect of air quality, is also expected in the coming days, as no change in weather conditions has been announced that would enable air purification in the Sarajevo basin.
