"We will sweep them away when we come to power and show that politics can be conducted differently," is the mantra of Elmedin Konaković, which he repeated before he became part of the government from the state to the municipal level.
And when they took power and tried to sweep away political opponents with failed setups and spins, the appointees of People and Justice began to show their true colors and the flip side of their real politics. They showed it so expressively that the citizens of Sarajevo Canton, the Federation, and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina began to call for the full return of SDA.
The conflict between NiP's figurehead Naida Hota - Muminović and the president of the Independent Union of Primary and Pre-school Education of KS, Saudina Sivre, is the latest in a series of proofs that Konaković's party is just a gathering of political refugees who could not achieve their personal interests in the cumbersome SDA.
Sivro leads the educators, those who teach our children, and who this time are pointing more to the destructiveness of the minister's plans and work. Because, the Union demands: "that the standards be restored, that the minister resign, that administrative reforms be stopped and quality reforms tailored to students and their teachers be implemented".
Considering everything we have seen in the work of Minister Hota - Muminović, it is clear why the public in KS and the Federation is on the side of Sivro and the union. Because, the reforms that the Minister of Education is introducing are far from normal, let alone quality ones.
Let's recall the SAFER document on education reform, which initially caused ridicule, and when it was realized that it was seriously harmful nonsense, many intellectuals expressed their opposition to this reform, given its origin and content. From Nenad Veličković, professor Lamija Tanović, academician Adila Pašalić Kreso, and many others, we heard views on the senselessness and destructiveness of what Hota - Muminović plans to introduce into our educational system.
And that's not all, her innovations have jeopardized the primary obligation of educators, as most of them claim today that the minister is turning them into standardized clerks who are more involved in administration than in transferring knowledge to children.
All of this was the reason why the Union, led by Sivro, had been warning about the destructive effects for a long time, and when they realized that Hota - Muminović was moving like a meteor on her own path without a real and serious goal, they went on a warning strike.
Teachers are striking for the first two classes of the first and second shifts, trying to convince Hota - Muminović that what she is implementing is destructive and that she must resign.
And then we saw that the political refugees who have seized power are not a millimeter different from all those before them, or rather, they resemble those comrades who used the Central Committee and the Communist Party to remain in their positions forever.
The attitude that Minister Hota - Muminović has shown towards the President of the Union, Saudina Sivre, and the striking educators is far from decent for a lady, a minister who holds a very responsible position. The pressure through the engagement of the police, led by her party colleague Admir Katica, is an old communist method of intimidating anyone who fights against bad governance.
Konaković's figurehead at the head of the Ministry of Education, in an attack on the Union, also used party-elected and appointed officials, so everyone was ordered to help her through social networks and other means of influence in her fight against the educators who teach our children.
It is clear to everyone that power is dear and that it is difficult to let go of the chair once you have it. But, it seems that for some, power is dearer, so they try to deal with anyone who opposes them using methods of dangerous tyranny.
We saw this in the example of the dictatorial conduct of the KS Assembly session, presided over by another Konaković figurehead, Elvedin Okerić. The opposition has more rights in Dodik's parliament than critics of the cantonal regime in Sarajevo Canton.
The regime will surely fall, and the beginning of the end will certainly happen in the upcoming local elections in October. The only question is whether, in the fight and waiting for the regime to fall, all those who are not to the liking of the regime or who are fighting for a better future for our children and all citizens will fall.
Because, Hota Muminović is just one from the spectrum of Konaković's appointees who protect their power through tyranny. After all, Konaković himself falls into serious tyrannical nervousness when his work is criticized, so he shifts everything to personal relationships.
The only question is where are NiP's cantonal partners and their "principles" in all of this, considering that they present themselves as liberals and social democrats. Or is all of that less important when you get into power!
