The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, spoke about the request of the Western administration to introduce visas for certain countries. BiH authorities did not listen to them.
"There are several examples and we explained to them why we did some things contrary to EU rules. Abolishing visas for citizens of Saudi Arabia was contrary. They are asking to introduce visas for citizens of Turkey, Russia... there are seven countries. We cannot listen to them, Turkey is a friend of BiH. There is no environment in which politicians from the RS could raise their hands for introducing visas for Russians or Chinese. It is not objective," Konaković stated.
He also said that they "grumbled" and "slammed" him regarding Saudi Arabia, but he explained it to them.
"When we showed that the arrivals of people from Saudi Arabia to BiH increased by 130 percent and the impact on the economy increased, they understood that BiH has specificities. We respect them, we accept them, they are our friends (Western countries, op.a.), but they understand that we will not blindly obey anyone before the interests of BiH and the citizens of BiH," Konaković said in N1's Pressing.
