Konaković with Troccaz: EU Enlargement is a Guarantee of Stability

(Patria) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković met in Mostar on July 23, 2024, on the sidelines of the International Conference "Dialogue for the Future" with the Special Representative of the Republic of France for the Western Balkans, Rene Troccaz.

Minister Konaković spoke about the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, about BiH's relations with neighboring countries, and about current issues in the region. He emphasized the importance of the EU enlargement policy as a guarantee of stability and prosperity through strengthening democracy, the rule of law, and economic development.

Minister Konaković assessed the project and establishment of WB3C (Western Balkans Cyber Capacity Center), conceived as a regional center for Western Balkan countries, initiated by the Republic of Slovenia, the Republic of France, and Montenegro during the Berlin Process Summit in Tirana, as a mechanism for strengthening the operational and institutional capacities of the countries in the region and assistance in facing challenges in the domain of cyber security, and as a very significant tool for developing regional cooperation, strengthening and exchanging experiences at the regional level, facing cyber security challenges, and developing cyber capacities.

The Minister assessed the establishment of WB3C and the Cyber Security Capacity Building Center in the Western Balkans as a way to build and support the European perspectives of the Western Balkan countries.

The Minister emphasized that it is certainly in the interest of Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate in the programs and trainings that experts from France and Slovenia will present in the fields of "Cyber" security, crime, and diplomacy, and that there is interest and readiness to become part of the project because the integration process is also a security process, and European integration should also be viewed as a security issue, especially considering the global security situation and the attempts of various third-party influences on the countries of the region.
