Konaković with Peach: Discussion on the role of the EUFOR ALTHEA mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina

(Patria) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković met on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference with the British Prime Minister's Special Envoy for the
Western Balkans, Lord Stuart Peach.

During the meetings, discussions were held on Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path, reform processes, security challenges, and regional cooperation.

Minister Konaković expressed gratitude for the strong support of the United Kingdom for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as its leading international role in addressing regional challenges.

He informed the Special Envoy about the progress of our country on the European path and the activities of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and assessed that it is of exceptional importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina to receive a decision on the opening of accession negotiations at the upcoming meeting of the European Council in March.

He also referred to the importance of the debate on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region in the British Parliament, particularly in the context of the newly published Report of the House of Lords International Relations and Defence Committee.

The British Prime Minister's Special Envoy emphasized that the United Kingdom remains focused on various forms of development aid for Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the framework of funds that the United Kingdom allocates for the Western Balkans. These are projects aimed at strengthening the rule of law, democracy and protection of fundamental rights, education, employment, social policy, etc.

He supported the reform process in Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding European integration and emphasized that in this process, improving the integrity of the electoral process in our country is extremely significant. During the meeting, discussions were held on the role of the EUFOR ALTHEA mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the UK's assistance and support in the security and defense sector of our country.
