Konaković: A protest note will be sent to all countries that voted against the Resolution

(Patria) - BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković addressed the public today after the UN General Assembly adopted the Resolution on the Srebrenica Genocide, reports N1.

Konaković says he is happy that the truth has prevailed, and announces that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH will send a protest note to the member states of the General Assembly that voted against the Resolution at the UN today.

He told the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and all those who speak of destabilizing the country that they will receive a strong response from the institutions in any attempt to act in that regard.

- Today, the facts from the judgments of international courts have prevailed, and from today, the whole world, especially in the UN General Assembly, will remember the victims of the Srebrenica genocide on July 11 every year - Konaković says.

He adds that awareness of this event will be raised worldwide in all civilized countries.

- It may seem to some that it happened a long time ago, but for us, it is a recent period of painful history. This Resolution sends an ever-clearer message to those who deny genocide and celebrate war crimes and criminals.

I think this is a very important process, not only for BiH but also because of what is happening in the world, a clear message to the whole world - he emphasizes.

He stresses that this is not a time for gloating, these are not victories or matches, this is a fight to position the truth as it deserves and to send strong messages.

- It is very important to us that today we did not hear anyone from the discussants, it seems to me, speaking against the facts or denying the genocide, except for the President of Serbia.

I did not listen to Russia. They spoke about timing, unity, and a common stance of all peoples in BiH.

That is why we had to make a statement, because we are expected to have a unified stance in BiH with those for whom the Resolution is being adopted - said Konaković.

He adds that this is not a victory or gloating, but only a piece of justice for the families of the genocide victims, for those who experienced those terrible crimes.

- I consider the fact that the entire region, our neighbors, countries with which we once formed a community in Yugoslavia, that all countries in the region except Serbia were on the right side, to be important.

Some of them were very brave, despite all the pressure from major world centers, especially Serbia led by Vučić. We will never forget that - Konaković notes.

He also sent a message to those who threatened the destabilization of BiH and the region.

- Those who threatened destabilization in BiH and the region, and those who were the only ones to speak of collective guilt, I mean Vučić, Dodik, and a few other officials of Republika Srpska and Serbia, when this Resolution begins to be implemented, they will have to explain to their people why they pushed them into the concept of collective responsibility and guilt and why they invented theses about war damage and distorted facts in an attempt to stop a civilizational process.

They were very aggressive, they and Russia did not manage to convince 17 countries. Vučić tried to minimize the great world powers and small states by talking about subordination to great world powers - these are consequences for which they will have to answer, primarily to the public of Serbia and to the people for whom this topic is of genuine interest - Konaković added.
