Konaković: Generally, I have a degree of distrust towards Radončić and the SBB

(Patria) - Elmedin Konaković, leader of the People and Justice party, commented for the Patria News Agency on Dragan Čović and the HDZ's vote in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, where they supported the conclusion of the Serb Club which initiates the annulment of the amendments to the Criminal Law banning the denial of genocide and war crimes.

He immediately stated that everyone was indeed late with their reaction and that public anger over its absence was justified.

„Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet Dragan Čović and I told him directly, in front of all the meeting participants, what I think about that act, that I consider it completely unexpected and to some extent inhumane, and I told all my colleagues that it does not contribute to improving relations between the Croatian and Bosniak peoples, and of course all others who consider BiH their country. That kind of vote and support for Dodik in those inhumane and anti-civilizational processes was a line we expected Dragan Čović would not cross.

I also saw some apology today and he probably partially mitigated that act of his, which we still consider catastrophic,“ Konaković said for NAP, adding that he was very pleased with the reaction of the Croatian public, which shows that regardless of these completely unreasonable actions by Milanović and Čović, and sometimes Plenković, there is a critical mass of Croatian thought that is aware of what genocides and suffering are. That made me very happy.

A big surprise for Konaković was also the reaction of Fahrudin Radončić (SBB), who tried to justify the HDZ's vote.

„There is no justification whatsoever, nor any need or sense to justify such an act, and I was quite surprised that Radončić tried to justify such a vote by the HDZ, saying they voted because they knew it wouldn't pass. At the very least, it was a thoughtless statement that actually doesn't hold up. I saw that he also understood the gravity of that mistake, so after our meeting yesterday, he actually distanced himself in a way from what he said.

When asked how one can even trust such a person and consider him part of the pro-Bosnian bloc, Konaković emphasized that he generally has a degree of distrust towards the SBB and what they generally do.

„Because of everything I have been through with them. But, it turns out that this probably isn't even Radončić's position, because he distanced himself from it, but generally, regarding what the SBB and its leader do, you have seen in the public space that after the breakup of the six-party coalition, I actually have a great degree of distrust towards their actions,“ said Konaković.
