Konaković calls on Izetbegović to stop tormenting Mostar and assume a leadership role in the process

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Once again you are tormenting beautiful Mostar. The people of Mostar and Mostar itself do not deserve this, Elmedin Konaković, president of the People and Justice party, said today on Facebook. 

"I publicly call on the president of the SDA - Party of Democratic Action of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bakir Izetbegović, to stop the process of electing the mayor. I call on him to assume a leadership role in the entire process; it is crucial that the government in Mostar is elected in a legal manner. President Izetbegović, do not choose people this way. With shouting, yelling, and pressure. Stop everything for a week or two. Make a plan, put principles, projects, and deadlines for implementers on paper, and on that platform invite parties into a coalition. The people in Mostar have waited a long time for a government.  Give them the government they deserve", Konaković stated.

He called on Izetbegović to write down that he will adopt important acts in the fight against corruption in a short period of time, create employee registers, public procurement registers, and publish salaries in the public sector. 

"Choose the best people for positions. Task the new government to make public procurement transparent, to make employment transparent and without harm. Task councilors and other officials to report and show their assets. Task the government to conduct an audit of the City's operations in the past period. Review issued permits, check whether utility services are being paid, and whether tycoons are protected in Mostar as well. Task the new administration to do all of this. Sign that plan and publish it publicly. 
Invite parties and individuals into that coalition. Do not let the process hide behind the name of a fine man who is a candidate for mayor and his number of votes. It will be a victory for healthy forces in Mostar, for all those who love Mostar, if you arrange things this way.  This is important for Mostar! People and Justice will send you a draft within the next 24 hours", Konaković concluded.
