Konaković to Izetbegović: You sold the homeland for OSA, KCUS, crony appointments

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Elmedin Konaković, president of People and Justice, reacted to the departure of SDA president Bakir Izetbegović to Zagreb at the invitation of Andrej Plenković, Prime Minister of Croatia, where he was received along with the president of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović. A few days earlier, Plenković had talks with Milorad Dodik, and Izetbegović had stated that he would not go to Plenković and criticized the meeting with Dodik. 

In a sharp reaction, Konaković told Izetbegović that his visit created "a sad circus, not balance." 

"The agreement to let Plenković parade you as representatives of the people is a humiliation for us. You could have and should have taught a lesson in respecting the institutions of our country, a lesson in the organization of our country, secular, civic, of course with all the rights of the peoples living in it, especially religious ones. Just as you say publicly, especially during campaigns. In that sad circus, Plenković received you in some small room without a state flag, just as such a meeting deserves. What kind of balance you have made is evident from the statements of Plenković and Čović. After the statements by Dodik and Čović that they exclusively want an ethnic organization of the country, you absolutely agreed with them. And this is precisely the opportunity for Bosniaks to shout out what is crucial for the survival and development of our homeland. To shout that we want a secular, civic BiH, organized in such a way that we can go to mosques, religious schools, have religious education, that no one threatens our rights. That we guarantee such rights to members of other religions as well, and of course all rights to people who are not religious. We, Bosniaks, have a special responsibility in these processes," Konaković wrote.

That is why it is sad, and a circus, that you have once again humiliated us before the whole world, said the president of NIP, adding that when aggressors attacked us in '92, this is exactly what they wanted.

"Ethnic division and the rights of peoples only in the parts of the territory controlled by that people. We defended our homeland from that. And we defended it. We defended its secularity, multi-ethnicity, territorial integrity. You are selling it all away in small rooms and cafes for petty gains, OSA, KCUS, crony appointments, parking on sidewalks, and other petty benefits. Or are you doing all this consciously? We do not agree to that," Konaković concluded.
