Konaković: Such an unreformed SDA is not a desirable partner for us

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Narod i pravda will contest the local elections absolutely independently and will certainly not be in any pre-election coalitions, said Elmedin Konaković, president of Narod i pravda.

"We believe that in candidacies for mayoral positions, if the current relationship of partners in the Sarajevo Canton, this 'six-pack' for which I have only words of praise, is maintained, it would be logical to approach this a bit more wisely. To potentially agree on support in mayoral candidacies, if this cantonal story takes off, and I optimistically believe it will gain full momentum by the local elections. We will field lists for municipal and city councils in all municipalities where we have good, honest, credible candidates. In Republika Srpska, together with everyone from the Bosniak bloc," Konaković said.

Commenting on the rumors about a supposed new parliamentary majority in the Sarajevo Canton, Konaković said that "SDA will talk about reconstructing the Government from the opposition for the next four years."

"That is something they have plenty of time for. For now, we do not feel any pressure. There is a simple law that stipulates how a Government is dismissed and formed. If they gather 18 votes, they take power and responsibility; we have more time to focus on organizing the party. It is much more comfortable to go into elections from the opposition. I don't see such a thing being possible."

The president of NIP said that he will not respond to SDA's invitation for a coalition.

"With such an unreformed SDA, where you couldn't hear a word of criticism for corrupt officials whose corruption we have proven, it would truly be complicity to form a coalition with them. We are rooting for SDA to have its internal temperature rise as soon as possible, which will bring something good, for that situation to improve. A strong SDA is truly needed for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As it is now, it is not a desirable partner for us," Konaković concluded.
