Konaković responds to Željka Cvijanović: It would be better if you didn't send such letters

(Patria) - BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković refused to send a letter to the UN Secretary-General that Željka Cvijanović, whose term as BiH Presidency Chair is ending today, had sent on her own initiative. She attacked Konaković, accusing him of not dealing with the content of the letter but of forwarding it without question.

Konaković himself responded to her today via social media.

"Another senseless attack on the job I am doing and on me personally comes from the Chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović. First, Ms. Cvijanović should know that there are no joint institutions, there are only institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs forwards official positions of the BiH Presidency for further procedure, not individual acts and correspondence from any member of the BiH Presidency. Presidency members can do that themselves.

If the BiH Presidency does not have a harmonized position, and the subject falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I personally decide on the text that I send for procedure, taking into account and protecting the Constitution, laws, and decisions previously adopted by the institutions of BiH. Finally, I had insight into the text of Ms. Cvijanović's letter, it would be much better for her if she did not send such letters.

Especially not to those who know the situation in our country, the constitution, and other regulations well.
It looks unprofessional, she should take care of that. She has already received an adequate response from Strasbourg. I am sure that others will follow soon.

The decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH are final and binding throughout BiH, and the decisions of the NSRS are legally unfounded and invalid," Konaković stated.

He also published a letter from the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić, which is a response to Željka Cvijanović's letter.

Pejčinović-Burić clearly states that she condemned the actions of the NSRS regarding the Constitutional Court of BiH.

"Like other international actors recently, I have spoken in favor of the authority of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose decisions are final and legally binding throughout its territory. In this context, I have condemned any attempts to undermine the constitutional and legal order of the country, as well as the regrettable decision of the NSRS not to apply the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH," said Pejčinović Burić.
