(Patria) - The statements and conclusions adopted today by the National Security Council of the Republic of Serbia, which openly deny the verdict of the judicial institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and express political support for a person finally convicted of attacking the constitutional order of the state, represent one of the most serious and dangerous blows to the sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the post-Dayton era, wrote the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Elmedin Konaković. Whether intentionally or not, Konaković misstated the criminal offense for which Dodik was convicted, which is non-compliance with the decisions of the High Representative, while the BiH Prosecutor's Office suspects him of attacking the constitutional order since the end of February this year. Vučić also mentioned in today's address that Konaković called for demonstrations if Dodik were to be released.
"It is rare in international relations for the highest security and political body of one country to openly oppose the judicial decisions of another. Such a move represents an inadmissible interference in the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a direct undermining of its institutions. It is even more dangerous that these conclusions attempt to equate the institution of the BiH entity of Republika Srpska with the person of Milorad Dodik. In doing so, Republika Srpska is consciously placed in the position of a corrupt and arrogant political structure, subordinate to the interests of one man, and not to the principles of the rule of law, accountability, and constitutionality.
It is important to recall that the greatest pressure on the BiH Court before the verdict was delivered came precisely from Milorad Dodik, who threatened secession if the verdict was not in his favor. Bosnia and Herzegovina will not remain silent in the face of such attacks.
We call on the institutions of the Republic of Serbia to show responsibility, to refrain from further political messages that threaten the stability of the region, and to respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and legal order of the neighboring country.
Political and security support for individuals who violate the Constitution and laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina carries deep consequences for mutual relations, peace, and stability in the Western Balkans.
Bosnia and Herzegovina remains committed to regional cooperation, the European path, and the rule of law, but it will not tolerate the humiliation of its institutions or attempts to shape policy within our country from Belgrade. We will respect the institutions and authorities of Serbia only to the extent that they respect Bosnia and Herzegovina and the institutions of our country. By calling for anarchy in our country, you are sending a message to the citizens of Serbia as well that anarchy is allowed, and even desirable.
Beware of your messages, they can often be a boomerang," stated Konaković.
