Konaković misleads the public: Directors' salaries reduced on January 26, increased on February 2

At an emergency session held on January 26 this year, the Government of Sarajevo Canton adopted a Decree on amendments to the Decree on determining salaries and fees for management and other bodies of institutions of Sarajevo Canton, cantonal public enterprises and public institutions founded by Sarajevo Canton, Patria reports.

According to the new Decree, salaries for directors of 13 public healthcare enterprises in Sarajevo Canton were reduced, in some cases by several thousand KM.

Six days later, at a regular session, the Government of Elmedin Konaković adopted a Decision granting approval for salary increases of up to 30% of the base salary for directors of the following public healthcare institutions and public institution: Public Institution Health Center of Sarajevo Canton, Public Institution General Hospital "Prim. dr Abdulah Nakaš", Public Institution Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance of Sarajevo Canton, Public Institution Institute for Health Protection of Women and Maternity of Sarajevo Canton, Public Institution Institute for Public Health of Sarajevo Canton, Public Institution Institute for Health Protection of Employees of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton, Public Institution Institute for Sports Medicine of Sarajevo Canton, Public Institution "Apoteke Sarajevo" and the Health Insurance Institute of Sarajevo Canton. 

The Decision states that the increase in the base salary for directors will apply from January 1, 2017 until the adoption of the report on work and financial operations of the mentioned institutions for 2016 by the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton, and no later than May 31, 2017, during which period the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton will monitor the activities of the directors of the mentioned institutions regarding the improvement of work and development of the institutions, securing funds for operations, and rationalization of work organization and operating costs. 

Given that this decision on a 30 percent increase will apply from January 1, the salaries of 13 directors have either been minimally reduced compared to what they were before, or not at all.
