Konaković: NIP responds to talks on Election Law within institutions

(Patria) - Elmedin Konaković, president of the People and Justice party, speaking today about the upcoming negotiations regarding the reform of electoral legislation, reiterated that NIP advocates for the removal of systemic discrimination in the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the institutional prevention of blocking institutions.

„We are not against the protection of vital interests, but we are against the blockade of the state. We reject the concept of ethnic division of the country, although advocates of such ideas have been extremely ambitious," said Konaković.

Recently, information leaked to the public that negotiations with international mediators could be moved outside Sarajevo, but Konaković stated today that the Election Law is an important topic and NIP behaves responsibly and responds to talks within institutions on these matters.

He also commented on the views of other officials who called for a halt to negotiations with the international community.

"We have never given consent not to negotiate with representatives of the international community. Today we witness that due to damaged institutions, our eyes are turned to our friends outside Bosnia and Herzegovina. The issue of unblocking institutions is primary. Dodik's behavior is the first topic for all of us, but political life in Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot stop because that problem has not been resolved," added Konaković.

He also emphasized that NIP's proposal remains the introduction of a fourth member of the Presidency, with all four being elected from the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

„That way we would get at least one who would be an announcement of the introduction of the civic principle of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We see two sides, one exclusively ethnic, and the other exclusively civic. NIP has found a measure for regulating these relations. We are committed to continuing talks on constitutional reform with actors who do not destroy this country," explains Konaković.
