Konaković after leaving SDA: The people's party will gild it all

Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Elmedin Konaković confirmed that he is founding a party after leaving the SDA.

"These days we are working on an idea that will have a form, color, mission, recognizability, which will be a people's party. That is what we will call it, a kind of people's party," Konaković stated in the show "Pošteno" on Federal Television.

"We will cooperate with the Independent Bloc and A-SDA. They went through a similar thing, they are fair and good in Krajina. I will visit them and talk. In Sarajevo, there will be a new story, a broader and people's story. Voters will say how strong we are," said Konaković.

He left the Party of Democratic Action at the end of January. He said that the party has different approaches towards certain people, and that the SDA did not clearly support his fight against crime in public companies in Sarajevo. The SDA accuses Konaković of personal animosities towards certain members of the party. He denies this.

Can Konaković be a counterweight to the Party of Democratic Action, in which he spent 14 years? Does he have the infrastructure to match, as he himself said, the SDA's machinery? By that, he also meant the media that the SDA influences. Finally, what are his motives? Some analysts believe that Konaković is stubbornly opposing his former party without backing. The Prime Minister talks about the major moves he made during his three-year term. He expects citizens to recognize this. The opposition criticizes that none of this is worth attention.

"I believe that Mr. Elmedin Konaković has not fulfilled several key obligations to the citizens of Sarajevo Canton, primarily the construction of the First Transversal and the establishment of regular water supply in the Canton. Sarajevo has no water in the summer during the tourist season, and unfortunately, people are thirsty," stated the President of the SBB, Fahrudin Radončić.

Before confirming that he is founding a new party, Konaković held meetings with the Independent Bloc and A-SDA. There is also talk of meetings with the SDP BiH and SBB, although both parties announce that they will support his removal.

It can be said that Konaković visited other parties for two reasons: either he was making himself available to them, or he is irritating the SDA by creating a false image of his own importance. Statements and declarations after Konaković's meetings with leaders of other parties are mostly rhetorical in nature.

Member of the State Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina Senad Šepić and Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Elmedin Konaković were photographed having coffee in a Sarajevo hotel, just 24 hours after the media reported that Konaković was leaving the SDA.

"Exchange of opinions on how we can together initiate and build a better, fairer, and safer society for all and those who come," was written below the photo of the former high-ranking SDA members.

The next day, Konaković spoke at the tenth anniversary of A-SDA:

"During the war, BiH was defended by people who were the best among us and who did not care about positions, and after the war, completely different circumstances arose," said Konaković, calling for a fight for a just Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Konaković soon after announced the formation of a new party.

"These days we are working on an idea that will be a people's party," said Konaković without revealing more details, except that he will cooperate with A-SDA and the Independent Bloc. Why should we believe that Konaković is different? He is accused of removing some and bringing in others at his own discretion! Critics will say that all other parties and politicians have similar rhetoric. Finally, even in the Statute of the SDA, which Konaković left, it states: "a strong and civil society in which man - the individual is the subject of social processes; a state of law as an auxiliary service in the function of the common good; protection of traditional values and the family as the foundation of a healthy society." /A.
