Konaković and Kojović visit the oldest resident of KS, Jovan Jovanović, who is 109 years old

The oldest resident of the Gerontology Center in Nedžarići and Sarajevo Canton is Jovan Jovanović, who is 109 years old. Today, he was visited by the Prime Minister of KS Elmedin Konaković and Naša stranka representative in the KS Assembly Predrag Kojović, reports the BH news agency Patria.

In a letter to Kojović, Jovanović expressed his wish to meet the two of them.

Still mobile and vital, Jovanović welcomed his guests in his room, smiling and in good spirits, and well-dressed. He boasted about his health, saying he is fine as long as his mind serves him. He only complained about his weakened eyesight, but even that does not prevent him from reading and writing at this advanced age, and engaging in literary analysis. He does this with the help of a special magnifying glass, after which he transfers his expert analyses to paper. His current wish is to find a publisher for the works he is preparing.

- By coming here, you have done a great deed, but it will be even greater if you help me publish my works as well - said Jovanović, but also emphasized that attention and respect cannot be bought with anything, thus expressing his gratitude to his guests for today's visit.

Prime Minister Konaković and representative Kojović gifted Uncle Jovo a new "Olimpia" typewriter so that he could continue his research work, as the machine he used before was worn out and stopped working.

- With our modest gift, we have 'entrusted you' to remain healthy and continue with your research work for a long, long time - said Prime Minister Konaković to Uncle Jovo.

Representative Kojović promised him that he would contact several publishers to have his works published and made available to the wider public. He also gifted him his book titled "Born in USA".

Both were fascinated by Uncle Jovo's eloquence, memory, and clarity of mind. Despite his poor eyesight, he reads the press daily, occasionally watches television, but books are still his dearest friends. As a retired professor of the Russian language, he has published more than 220 scientific research papers in the field of literature.

Uncle Jovan Jovanović has been a resident of the Gerontology Center since 1996. He has only words of praise for the work of the center's employees and their care, which he emphasized several times during this visit. He has no close relatives, but he has a best friend, 78-year-old Fahira Turković, with whom he shares good and bad times here every day.

Prime Minister Konaković and representative Kojović took this opportunity to visit and have a brief conversation with other residents of the Gerontology Center.
