Konaković a step ahead of Šabić for premiership

The session of the Executive Board of the Cantonal Board of SDA Sarajevo, where 28 members will vote on the candidate for the mandate-holder for the composition of the Sarajevo Canton Government, has not yet been scheduled, but it is expected to take place in the next day or two, writes the Patria News Agency.

The Personnel Commission of the KO SDA has already received a written explanation from Jasmin Buča, who withdrew his candidacy, so only two names remain in contention.

Elmedin Konaković or Muharem Šabić will be the new Prime Minister. They will present their plans and visions for the Government's operations in the coming period to the Executive Board members. 

As things stand, Konaković has a better chance of becoming the new Prime Minister of KS, given his many years of political experience as a representative.

Opposing him is Šabić, who, apart from being the technical director of the failed company BH Airlens and a professor at the Faculty of Transport and Communications in Sarajevo, has no political experience.

Most of the Executive Board members we spoke with say they will most likely give their vote to Konaković.

In the difficult situation currently facing the entire country, and thus the Sarajevo Canton, there is no time to wait for Šabić, or people who do not know the system of government functioning, to get acquainted. Every minute is precious.

According to unofficial information, Zvizdić, after conducting talks with the membership, who are largely in favor of Konaković, has also apparently decided to accept his candidacy, even though in that case he would not have "his man" at the head of the Government.

However, judging by the mood in the KO SDA, where members are quite dissatisfied with the intra-party organization and reaching agreements on key issues outside the party bodies, Zvizdić will most likely have to agree to the demands of the base, and not just the Novi Grad branch that is pushing Šabić.
