Public Utility Companies in the Fight Against Coronavirus

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Ministry of Public Utility Economy and Infrastructure of Sarajevo Canton and the managements of cantonal public utility companies have agreed to undertake concrete preventive measures and activities that will contribute to preventing the occurrence of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Sarajevo Canton. In this regard, it was concluded that it is necessary to update plans for the protection of people and material goods from natural and other disasters, as well as to carry out all necessary preparatory activities for the smooth performance of public utility activities under special conditions.

Cantonal public utility companies responsible for cleaning and maintaining public areas have been instructed to carry out enhanced washing and mechanical cleaning of public traffic areas in order to remove all present impurities, from 18:00 onwards, i.e., after traffic jams have subsided, with the maximum engagement of material resources and human resources. It was agreed that, in addition to the aforementioned activities, the intensity of manual cleaning in maintained areas will also be increased.

It was stated that all public utility companies at consumer centers and public utility service centers have already taken preventive protection measures, including, above all, enhanced disinfection and hygiene control. It was emphasized that public utility services will perform their duties continuously and at planned capacities within their respective domains.

The readiness of all public utility companies to undertake all necessary activities to implement the orders and recommendations of crisis headquarters, each within their own jurisdiction and activities, was expressed.
