Komšić: Closing the General Hospital is unacceptable, Sarajevans know what it meant to us, led by Nakaš

Reforms in healthcare and improving the provision of medical services to citizens are urgently needed. However, working on merging the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS) and the "Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš" General Hospital, hiding behind a false narrative that it is better for citizens, is unacceptable, according to the president of the Democratic Front, Željko Komšić, writes the Patria News Agency.

All of us, he adds in a statement to Patria, who spent the war in Sarajevo know what the Military Hospital meant to us then, and today the General Hospital that bears the name of a great man and doctor, Abdulah Nakaš.

- The historical role he played during the aggression with his team of doctors and medical staff is immeasurable. Since Bakir Izetbegović's wife took over the management of this hospital, all traces reminding of the historical role of Dr. Nakaš have slowly begun to disappear.

First, every trace that reminded of its exceptionally successful predecessors was removed from the hospital's hall. Now we have the final act on the scene. By merging the hospitals, the last trace and memory of Abdulah Nakaš will be destroyed. I believe that there are still enough reasonable people in politics who decide on healthcare reform, and that they will not allow the merger of KCUS and the General Hospital, which would forever destroy the memory of Dr. Abdulah Nakaš - Komšić states.
