Komšić's congratulations: In 2021, we wish for recovery and major changes in BiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Member of the BiH Presidency from the Croat people, Željko Komšić, congratulated the New Year to all citizens in BiH and around the world, with a wish that they welcome it in health and happiness, with their families and friends. Member of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić emphasized that we have had a very difficult year behind us.

“We have lost many friends and family members. We have drifted apart. Respecting epidemiological measures, we stopped shaking hands, hugging, and socializing. Many lost their jobs and had to close their businesses. 2020 is certainly not a year we will remember for good things. We, Bosnians and Herzegovinians, are strongest precisely when things are hardest for us. Some much more powerful and economically advanced countries than ours, with better healthcare and political-legal systems, countries not destroyed by wars, did not act as effectively in combating the coronavirus as we did.”

Member of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić said that we must be grateful for our brave healthcare workers – people who saved lives under difficult working conditions, but also for all citizens who endured a lot. He added that a lot of work and responsibility awaits us in the new year.

“2021 will certainly not be easy, but I expect us to find a solution to the economic crisis and successfully continue the fight against COVID-19. The coming year can be a year of major changes in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A year in which we will continue to fight the pandemic, but also a year in which we will move towards economic recovery and renewal. It will be a year in which political changes in the West will certainly have a positive impact on changes in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The coming year can also be an opportunity for all of us, at all levels of government throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, to rally around common goals: to, in addition to improving the healthcare system, continue the fight against corruption and organized crime, reform the judiciary, improve the education system, infrastructure, strengthen democracy, human rights and minority rights, and everything that will accelerate BiH's integration into NATO and the EU.” The Member of the BiH Presidency added that despite all the problems in the country, he is full of hope and optimism.

“We have the opportunity and the ability to fight for a better Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the benefit of all its citizens. The responsibility lies with all of us. First and foremost, we must believe in and respect each other, help those most in need. I hope that the coming year will bring more prosperity, understanding, and tolerance among people.”

Member of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić once again wished all Bosnians and Herzegovinians a happy and successful 2021.
