Komšić for 'Delo': Counting bloodlines is fascism

(Patria) - That is fascism, it resembles Hitler's racial laws, proving Aryan origin. Because of that, millions of people lost their lives, and unfortunately, it is still happening. Can BiH with such ideas join the EU? Answer it yourself, commented member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić on the statement by Slovenian Delo journalist Novica Mihajlović that "counting bloodlines is not exactly a European value?"

"What is wrong if I am acceptable to other peoples? For nationalists, that is a disaster. Who issues the certificate, who can measure my Croatness. I have no problems with people on the ground. I also have no problems with HDZ, HDZ has problems with me," said Komšić, reports Patria.

The member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina therefore emphasized NATO integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a strategic interest of the country so that citizens finally gain peace. He said that it is even in the interest of Milorad Dodik, even though he opposes it.

"It is also his interest, the interest of his people and the policy that supports him, is joining NATO. It is in all of our interests to live in a peaceful environment, to be safe. Our interest is to be able to ensure for our children that these things never happen again," said Komšić.

When asked what Dodik's motive is for preventing accession to NATO, Komšić replied: "Irrationality is not the motive, such behavior is irrational, it is not the motive. The motive is very rational, it is a political idea that is still alive.

Serving Russia? "Exactly. In essence, you have said it most simply."

Speaking about why everyone in BiH does not focus solely on the EU, if all three sides agree on that, Komšić said that there is no doubt about the importance of Bosnia and Herzegovina's accession to the European Union, but problems arise with EU standards, such as respect for human rights, the rule of law, and then economic and social issues follow.

"Human rights in our country are not based on respecting the rights of the individual but of the collective. An ethnic approach to rights in the EU is not a standard," said Komšić, reports NAP.
